Frequently Asked Questions and Answers These are the most commonly asked questions we get asked at your free consultation

Bathroom Countertop

1.  Q. Do you have your own men or do you subcontract?

A. We don’t use sub-contractors. Every job is handled entirely by our own talented crew of expert tradesmen who wear company shirts and are bonded.

Our men do all of the electrical, lighting and plumbing work. We do all of our own carpentry work and custom cabinet building. Our team takes special interest in your home and takes pride in the remodeling we do for you.

Hiring a company that uses subcontractors leaves you susceptible to surprise hidden costs. When we give you a price it covers any issues we may have. If we run into a problem we take care of it; we don’t come running to you, the customer, with the extra charges.

2.  Q. Do you make your own Cabinets?

A.  Yes we have our own workshop with expert Finish Cabinet Maker Craftsmen who produce the finest quality custom cabinets

 3.  Q. When you start my job are you going to work on it every day until it’s finished?

A.  We will never abandon your job site for even a day. We work at your project a Full Day, Every Day!

4.  Q. If I have a problem, how do I know that you’re going to come back?

A.  Of course we’ll come back; we offer you the lifetime guarantee because that’s how much confidence we have in ourselves and our company that your job is going to be done the right way, the first time.

 5.  Q. Should I be home when you’re going to do the work?

A. We are experts at working in the home, so it is not necessary for you to be at home when we do the work.

6.  Q. What about my pets?

A. We make arrangements with you for your pets to be safe at all times, in the right place and out of the work area.

 7.  Q. Are you neat and clean? Is there going to be a mess?

A.  We keep your job site neat and clean at all times. When we first demolish your job it is a little messy as you would expect, but we clean up while we’re working and we put down protection (i.e. runners, tarps and dust barriers). Pictures that are on the wall usually come off with your permission.

We do 2 checklist walk-throughs with you, one before we start your project and another after we finish, so that there are no surprises.

 8.  Q. How long will it take to complete the work?

A. We will work at your job all day for every day until it is finished. We will never abandon your job site for even a day.

 9.  Q. Do you have any references in this town? Have you done any work for anyone in the neighborhood?

A. Yes, we do; ask us for references in your town. We have hundreds of satisfied clients you can speak with about why they chose Classic Homes Remodeling to be their “home remodeling company”

 10.Q. Do I need a permit?

    A. There is usually no permit required when we’re replacing fixtures. We purchase permits for all structural changes.

Depending on the town and what type of work we’re doing, we work closely with the town and in all cases, the state building codes.

11. Q. -Why is it NOT a good idea to attempt a remodeling job yourself?

  A.  If you decide to do this, you actually become the prime contractor and everyone you hire is a subcontractor. You thus assume the liability and full responsibility of the project.

If any of the people working on your project or one of your

Subcontractors doesn’t do it properly, you assume the liability. If you call them after the fact the chances of them coming back to fix it are very slim, even if they are still in business.

So you have to personally inspect the work, make sure that the project is done properly and do the quality control during the job and perhaps have to take time off your regular job and worry about everything that is part of the project.

If something goes wrong or you miss something when attempting to do it yourself, you might have to rip it out later on or demolish it and redo it…the job can cost you 3 times more than it should. So you think you’re saving money by doing it yourself but the job can literally cost you 3 times more than what we are charging you to do the job properly.

If that’s not bad enough let’s examine the legal ramifications.

If the work is not done properly and according to codes

Your insurance company is not liable to pay any claims pertaining to your home.

Classic Homes is giving you a Lifetime Guarantee on labor and materials. We make sure that we do it right the first time so that we don’t want to incur the extra costs of reworking a job

 12. Q. Should we hire a franchise company to remodel our home?

Beware of Franchises- They are commission oriented so the people coming to your house are salesmen that have been trained by the company to sell you a product and they’re working strictly on commission. Their only interest is to get a contract, sign you up and to get their commission. They have no interest in you- your family or your home.

The next thing that happens is that they subcontract out all your work.

The subcontractor’s interest is to get in and do the work as quickly as possible so he can make money, because they’re not paying him a lot of money to begin with. The subcontractor has the pressure of rushing through your job so that he can get it done quickly and go on to the next job. This is the only way he can make a decent living.

Franchises do cookie cutter work which is way below the standards of the quality workmanship you get from Classic Homes Remodeling, where you can have custom work for no more than you would pay for prefab cabinets and materials.

These other companies are not custom builders and not custom remodelers. They are looking to do standard or sub-standard work that they can do in a couple of days and make the quick dollar. They do not have the same kind of workmanship, quality materials and Lifetime Guarantee that we proudly give you.

13. Q. If someone comes into your home for an estimate and asks you for a large down payment…Should you go along with that?

     A. I would strongly consider, not giving them any money.

 Q. Why do you say that? Don’t they need money for labor and materials?

  A. If they needed your money to pay for labor and materials…they don’t have much of a business anyway; do they? If they don’t have the cash flow and money in their business to take care of your job…maybe you should consider not doing business with them at all.

Another thing you have to be aware of in regards to this issue is that if you do pay the contractor and he uses subcontractors or certain suppliers and he doesn’t pay them…they can put a lien on your house and you’ll be forced to pay them.
