BEHR History
Soon after the Second World War, Behr's founder, Otho Behr, Jr. began selling linseed oil to paint stores from the back of his woody station wagon.
His customers quickly made it known that they needed something that would perform better on redwood than just linseed oil. Seizing the opportunity,
Otho Jr. asked his father, Dr. Otho Behr Sr., an accomplished chemist, to help him develop a formula to meet their requirements.
Soon the father-and-son team began making a clear finish and stain for redwood in the Behr family garage.
